the mechanisms ist eine englische folk, steampunk band, welche 2010 gegründert wurde. the mechanisms bestehenen aus jonny d'ville (gesang, harmonica), ashes o'reilly (bass), drumbot brian (percussion, accordion, banjo), the toy soldier (gesang, glockenspiel, mandolin), gunpowder tim (gitarre, gesang), marius von raum (fiddle), raphaella la cognizi (piano, gesang), nastya rasputina (synthesiser, viola) und ivy alexandria (woodwind, euphonium).

sie bezeichen sich selbst als spacepiraten und ihre musik als spacefolk, in ihren liedern erzählen sie von ihren weltraumabenteuern.
